    Purchasing a Rental Property

So our first try at this fell through as I mentioned in a prior post This time, instead of a single family dwelling, I’ve decided to go with my gut and stop chasing every penny of profit and go with something I feel will be a good long term, no hassle purchase.  It’s a townhouse but in the historic district of a growing city nearby.  Brick, all redone, and looks amazing.  There is a nominal monthly fee, but that covers water, sewer, outdoor maintenance and plowing (We northerners need to take that into account). I made an offer for only a little under.  They actually had three showings the next…

    Hiking Pack Monadnock

We spent this past Fourth of July hiking.  It was still during this last heat wave, but we had water and it was much cooler in the woods.  We decided to pick Pack Monadnock as it is also on our list of mountains to hike.  This one in particular is due to its Fire Tower on top and we can check it off on our Fire Tower Quest. You can find the mountain list here:  http://4000footers.com/list_towerquest.shtml We had already gone up Belknap Mountain to the fire tower there, so it was time to check another one off of our list. Panoramic view from up the Fire Tower   On the way down…

Just hanging out on Lake Winnipesaukee

For us, there is no better way to spend our time than hanging around the lake. We had some new doors installed and they needed to be painted.  Some sort of a dark brownish grey.  Looks almost black in the photo, but they’re not.  Matches our screen/storm doors. I had to run back to the office – I replaced a few door knobs upstairs so they would match downstairs.  I only got around to doing three of them, and with two left to do, I let the Mrs do the other two.  I told her she would fumble a bit but would figure it out.  This is the story I…

    Bunny Attack!

Ok, so the headline is a little alarmist…  But speaking of unwanted critters…   This guy showed up and just wouldn’t leave: [video_embed url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZEIV40uRBw”]   Even as I was weeding, it just wouldn’t leave…   Oh well.  I figured if it was going to be that brave and would have food over fear, I’d let her stay a bit longer and eat.  There’s more lettuce there than I can eat at once so I didn’t mind sharing.

    Bear Attack!

Woke up this morning to my hive listing to its side.  A bear must have come along and tried to knock over the hive and get at the honey.  Really all it did was wedge the hive up between the stand and the fence and the pissed off bees drove the bear away. Time to set up the electric fence it looks like.   So I put on my beekeeper suit and headed on down to the hive and put it back together.  I didn’t use any smoke so I had quite a few pissed off bees coming at me.  Didn’t take too long and had it all back together. …
