Spent a Night in Rome Italy

Traveled to Italy for work and spent most of the week in the southern tip on the coast. We had long days and truly did a lot of work, but in the evening we were able to hit a few of the local haunts for a drink I did not need to understand Italian to know which bathroom was mine! Eventually the week was over and took a flight to Rome. The next morning I would be flying home, but I was able to explore Rome at night. It had just rained so the streets were pretty empty. This gave me some amazing access and photos of some of the…

Cooking the Perfect Steak – Part 2

After cooking a ribeye steak in part 1 and taking what I learned from that, I figured it was time to tackle it again. So once again, I grabbed a ribeye. This was nice and thick. I added on a rub and some red pepper flakes because I do like some spice. While that was resting, I got out my cast iron pan and added some butter, garlic, and onions. Once I started seeing some browning on the garlic and onions, I then added the steak and cooked at perfectly medium heat for 5 minutes a side So this is coming out better than I could have hoped right now.…

    Whiteface Mountain – Success!

On Mother’s day, we successfully summited Whiteface Mountain. Last time we had to turn back half way due to an oncoming thunderstorm which we just barely beat as we ran down and made it to the car. This time, I’m happy to report, we did not run into such impediments. We made it to the place we were forced to turn around last time and kept on going. The day was cold and windy. We were warm enough with the correct clothing and gloves. The sun did eventually come out and while the wind did not die down, the sun was a welcomed reprieve. The trail at the piper/whiteface split…

    Best Home Made Lemoncello

Readers know and hear about my homemade Whiskey Sours and yes, they still are my favorite, but it got me thinking on what I can do with the left over lemon rinds. Then it hit me. Lemoncello! Since I’m not having 10 to 12 lemons at a time, I did a test to see how well the rind would freeze. The lemon ends I did the test with froze perfectly. No discoloration, no nothing. So that gave me hope that they would keep over the course of a week while I made my Whiskey Sours. So prior to squeezing the lemons, I would gently peel the rind and save it.…

What did I just get myself into?

The Mrs and I have been doing our best to get into shape as of late, and doing well I must add! The question was: How do we keep this motivation going? Well, we of course love Bermuda, and have been there a few times. The last two, we coincided our travels with a road race. We have always heard about the Bermuda Triangle Challenge that happens in mid January. Three races in three days. Friday is the Mile Run held on Main Street Saturday is the 10K Sunday is your choice of the Half-Marathon or Full Marathon. The person with the three combined lowest times is how the overall…
